		<description>Good news!!!

So, although our economy is nearing a depression according to some analysts on NPR (my only trusted news source, besides the bbc), there is a faint light shining on cyclists around the U.S.

As I'm sure you all know, a 700 billion bail-out for the oh so greedy corporate business people was finally passed, but buried in it is the following:

"Buried in the financial rescue bill passed by Congress last week is a
provision to encourage bike commuting. The idea is to level the playing
field for cyclists, who currently can't get benefits like those
available for participants in car or van pools or other programs
designed to reduce traffic congestion.

Starting in January, employers can reimburse bike commuters up to
$20/month for the "purchase of a bicycle, bicycle improvements, repair,
and storage, if such bicycle is regularly used for travel between the
employee's residence and place of employment" and have such
reimbursements get the same favorable tax treatment as other benefits."

It's a tad cold in MN to be riding in Jan., but I know some people who do. Not sure what the stipulations are with this or how you would claim your 20 bones, but thought it was interesting nonetheless.

Also, I know you all are somewhat shaded by what's happening here. I thought you might enjoy this tidbit of info:

CEO's around the country have been holding company meetings/conferences letting their employees know that "everything is okay" and the money is in the bank and no one should worry, only to let half their workforce go the next day. Boston Sci held a meeting yesterday of that similar nature, so i'm interested to see what happens. Health care might be of a different playing field though...especially if people can only afford to eat greasy burgers from fast food chains...everyone will be needing stents.

Keep on biking crew!!! Be happy you're not here to witness the greed and nonsense that has been going D-o-w-n.

Love,

		<description>Jim,
I've been thinking of what you could do for a "day job" you mentioned, or more exactly, what you would be suited for in your present state of, shall we say, grooming.
The first thing that comes to mind is Mountain Man. I'm not sure what the job description or pay are, but I think that both are varied.
The second is a character actor playing a Mountain Man.
Third, is terrorist, but this may involve a change in your belief system.
Forth, and last, is a character actor playing a terrorist.
Let me know if you would like me to make some inquiries.
