Pete posing on an un-restored section of the Great Wall. Hasn't been touched since the Ming Dynasty, probably more than 500 yeas ago, but in many places still presents a formidable obstacle in terrain already difficult to navigate.

This section of the wall is restored well enough to bike on. But because of the restoration, you have to pay a fee to access this part of the wall.

Un-restored section of the wall tapers off into the distance. The wall is not a continuous single wall, but actually a series of many different walls ranging between miles and hundreds of miles in length and built over the span of almost 2,000 years.
